今回初めての福岡上陸に、果たして人が来てくださるのかナーバス気味な私ですが、
この機会にたくさんの方にお会いできたら嬉しいです。

「絵画のような生活」
今回の展示では、色や柄の無限の組み合わせを皆さんと一緒に楽しんでいただきたく、自由にたくさんの色や線を使って制作しました。
私はドイツを拠点に活動しており、気がつけば20年の月日が流れました。
2005年、初めてベルリンに引っ越したとき、街にはまだ貧しさが残り、
あちこちに空き地が広がっていました。
東京での便利で流行に敏感な暮らしに慣れていた私にとって、
それはまるで正反対の日々でした。
ベルリンでは、過剰に着飾ったり、流行を追いすぎることが
むしろ「かっこ悪い」とされていて、
友人たちは道端で拾った家具を自分で改造したり、
自作したもので部屋を彩っていました。
かつて「洗練された東京が最強!」と思っていた私の目には、
その自由な暮らしぶりがとても新鮮で、魅力的に映りました。
自分の手で生活をカスタマイズする楽しさを、
私はこの街から教わったように思います。
ありふれた日常も、少しの工夫と遊び心で、
まるで絵を描くように彩ることができる。
そんな喜びを、作品を通して少しでも感じていただけたら嬉しいです。


A Life Like a Painting

For this exhibition, I wanted to invite everyone to enjoy the endless combinations of colors and patterns, so I created these pieces using a free and playful approach with plenty of colors and lines.

I’ve been based in Germany for quite some time now—before I knew it, 20 years have passed.
When I first moved to Berlin in 2005, the city still carried traces of poverty, and empty lots were scattered everywhere. Having been used to the convenience and fast-moving trends of life in Tokyo, it felt like I had stepped into a completely different world.

In Berlin, being overly fashionable or obsessed with trends was seen as uncool.
My friends decorated their homes with furniture they’d found on the street, customizing and creating things themselves.
To someone like me, who once believed that “the polished life in Tokyo was the ultimate,” this way of living felt refreshingly free and incredibly inspiring.

Berlin taught me the joy of customizing life with my own hands.
Even the most ordinary day-to-day life can be colored and transformed, just like painting a picture, with a little creativity and a playful spirit.
Through my work, I hope you can feel a bit of that joy too.
